The effect of different mulching materials on quality of strawberry cv. CAMAROSA was studied during the year 2015-2016 with eight treatments replicated thrice in Randomized Block Design. The treatments comprised of coconut husk, black polyethylene, paddy straw, card board sheets, dried banana leaves, paddy husk, silver polyethylene and no mulch (Control). Among the treatments paddy straw recorded maximum TSS (8.83 0Brix), juice% (83.05%), specific gravity (1.15 g/cm3), vitamin-C content (58.88 mg/100g), total sugars (9.50%) and minimum physiological loss in weight (13.5% at 1 DAH and 25.30% at 2 DAH), titrable acidity (0.61%) and very less Albinism disorder (0.28%) as compared to other mulching treatments and control.Keywords

Studies were carried out to evaluate the effect of different mulching materials on growth and yield of strawberry cv. CAMAROSA having eight treatments with three replications in Randomized Block Design duing the year 2015-2016. The treatments comprised of coconut husk, black polyethylene, paddy straw, card board sheets, dried banana leaves, paddy husk, silver polyethylene and no mulch (control). All the mulching treatments significantly contributed in improving the vegetative growth and yield of strawberry over unmulched plants. Paddy straw mulch gave the best results in terms of increasing plant spread (46.06 cm), number of runners per plant (28.36), number of leaves per plant (42.56), leaf area per plant (7621.08 cm2), number of flowers per plant (61.66), number of days taken for fruiting (51.48 d), number of fruits per plant (35.46), fruit weight (5.00 g), fruit diameter (2.77 cm) and fruit yield (5.82 tonnes per ha). Silver polythene mulch also performed well and showed at par result with that of paddy straw for all the parameters. Black polythene mulch showed the minimum values under hot and humid climate of Andhra Pradesh Thus mulch treatment with paddy straw was proved to be the best for cultivation of strawberry under shade net conditions for tropical regions especially coastal Andhra Pradesh conditions.Keywords

The investigation was carried out to study the effect of IBA at different concentrations (2000 ppm, 4000 ppm, 6000 ppm) on cuttings of dragon fruit cultivars viz., red pulped variety and white pulped variety to elicit their ischolar_maining and shooting parameters. The cuttings of the red pulped variety performed better than the white pulped variety. Indole butyric acid (IBA) had significant effect on ischolar_maining and shooting performance of both the varieties over control. IBA @ 6000 ppm recorded minimum number of days for sprouting (43 days), maximum ischolar_maining and shooting parameters like percentage of ischolar_mained cuttings (86.77%), number of ischolar_mains (9.87), length of longest ischolar_main (22.93 cm), ischolar_main fresh weight (1.83 g) and dry weight (0.58 g), length of the longest shoot (23.93 cm), number of new shoots per cutting (4.00), shoot fresh weight (112.09 g ), shoot dry weight (9.47 g) and survival percentage (90.26%). The least performance was observed in the cuttings of white pulped variety for almost all parameters tested except for length of shoot.Keywords

The present investigation was carried out at College of Horticulture, V.R. Gudem, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during the year 2014-15. Aim of the experiment was to find out physiological responses of turfgrass species to different methods of planting under humid tropical coastal conditions of Andhra Pradesh. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with 4 turf grass species viz., Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon), Korean grass (Zoysia japonica), St. Augustine grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) and Centipede grass (Erimochloa ophiuroides) planted with dibbling and turf plastering methods. Based on the results obtained it was concluded that dibbling method of planting and Bermuda grass species individually recorded significantly highest amounts of chlorophyll pigments, but their interaction effect was found non-significant. St. Augustine grass planted with dibbling method recorded significantly highest stolon fresh and dry weights (65.27 and 13.97 g, respectively). Bermuda grass planted with dibbling method of establishment recorded significantly highest values for ischolar_main fresh and dry weights (10.14 and 5.09 g, respectively), ischolar_main length density (12.99 cm/g-3) and ischolar_main mass density (6.45 g/ g-3). Korean grass planted with turf plastering method recorded significantly lowest stolon fresh and dry weights (26.53 and 6.34 g, respectively), ischolar_main fresh and dry weights (4.48 and 1.94 g, respectively), ischolar_main length density (6.04 cm/g-3) and ischolar_main mass density (1.93 g/g-3).Keywords

An investigation was carried out at Horticultural College and Research Institute, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during the year 2015-16 to evaluate the influence of graded levels of nitrogen and potassium on physiological growth parameters and flower yield of garland chrysanthemum. The study has revealed that significantly highest number of leaves per plant (98.00), leaf area per plant (988.00 cm2), LAI (0.618), LAD (268.04), CGR, AGR, RGR, NAR, Chlorophyll-a, b and total chlorophyll content were observed by application of nitrogen at the rate of 200 kg ha-1 in combination with potassium at the rate of 150 kg ha-1along with phosphorus as a common dose to all the treatments at the rate of 100 kg ha-1during Rabi season. Significantly highest number of flowers per plant (28.00), flower yield per plant (36.00 g) and flower yield per hectare (25.25q) were observed by application of nitrogen at the rate of 200 kg ha-1 in combination with potassium at the rate of 150 kg ha-1.Keywords
